Antibacterial Bathroom Cleaner

A natural antibacterial cleanser that helps you clean your home without hurting the planet. The aroma of the essential oils makes the cleaning experience a pleasure.

Yield: Approx. 1 cup
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Price Category: 1
Difficulty Level: 1
Shelf Life: Indefinite

Ingredients:
1 cup
baking soda
2 tablespoons (or more) liquid castile soap
2 teaspoons tea tree essential oil
1 teaspoon peppermint essential oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar (optional)

Blending Procedure:
  1. Measure the baking soda into a bowl with a tight fitting lid.

  2. Add approximately 2 tablespoons of liquid soap (a natural brand of liquid soap such as liquid Castile soap). Mix well to create a paste-like consistency. If you need more liquid soap to do this, add it a little at a time until the mixture is like a paste -- pliable but not soggy.

  3. Once you have a consistency you feel like you can work with, add the essential oils and mix well again. The addition of vinegar last helps to boost the cleaning power.

  4. To use, scoop out a little of the cleanser and use a sponge or other cleaning tool to gently scrub your tub, shower and sink surfaces. A little goes a long way and the antibacterial effect of tea tree gives you extra peace of mind.

  2. To use, spray lightly throughout the room to refresh and uplift. You can also spray this to freshen linens and clothing, but do not use it directly on the skin. Shake well before each use.

Lemon Cutting Board Cleaner

This easy cleaner is helps keep wooden cutting boards freshened and sanitized. The lemon and essential oil sanitize the board while the abrasive action of the salt cleans it. If you use your cutting board for raw meat, get into the habit of doing this after each use. Never use the same cutting board for fresh fruits and vegetables as is used for raw meat.

1/2 lemon

  2. Add the essential oil directly on top of the salt/juice mixture.

  3. Hold the lemon half in your hand, flesh side down, and scrub the fragrant salt thoroughly over the cutting board. Be sure to get all the nooks and crannies. Repeat as necessary

Lemon Furniture Polish

This furniture polish is all-natural and leaves your wood beautifully finished. It also disperses a fresh fragrance throughout a room any time of year.

Yield: about 1 cup
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Price Category: 2
Difficulty Level: 1
Shelf Life: Indefinite

Ingredients:
1 ounce beeswax
8 ounces jojoba oil
1. teaspoon Peru balsam essential oil
1/4 teaspoon lemon essential oil
1/4 teaspoon orange essential oil

1/4 teaspoon grapefruit essential oil
1/4 teaspoon lemongrass essential oil
1/8 teaspoon thyme essential oil

Blending Procedure:

  • Measure the the beeswax and jojoba oil into a Pyrex measuring cup and place the cup into a bath of boiling water. When the wax is nearly completely melted, remove the cup from the water and stir the ingredients to thoroughly combine.

  • Allow the mixture to cool for about 1 minute before adding the jojoba oil and virgin coconut oil and stirring to ensure the mix.

  • Add the essential oils next and stir well to combine. Pour into a wide-mouthed jar so you can easily dispense it.

  • To use, apply the mixture a little at a time to clean furniture surface using a soft wool or cotton cloth. I like to use worn dish towels because they are very soft and pliable. Some people do not like the oiliness of oil/wax polishes. If you are one of them, spritz the wood surface once or twice with natural apple cide vinegar before polishing. This will "cut" the oil a little bit and it also enhances the shine. The vinegar smell dissipates quickly
