Hey y'all! It is finally here, my 31 Day Gratitude Challenge! I am so excited to embark on this journey with you. I can’t wait to get started, can you? So before we jump into it, I want to start off by explaining where this idea came from. I get asked all the time how I stay positive the majority of the time (this question gets asked by everyone). So, I started thinking…how do I stay positive? The answer was simple, I am grateful for where I am and where I have been. While I am not perfect at it, I practice gratitude regularly enough to where I am in a positive mindset most of the time. I am grateful for my past experiences (good and bad because I understand that they are ALL lessons) and I am grateful for my accomplishments. Another thing I do is practice self reflection (I have become a master at checking myself). I'm constantly thinking about what I have accomplished (or haven’t accomplished) and doing so really helps me to see the good. I see all of the amazing things I have done on my own and even where I have failed. Doing this makes me, you guessed it, feel grateful for the times in which I achieved. Wanna try it out? That’s where the 31 Day Gratitude Challenge comes in to play. What type of challenge is this? This is a month long practice of gratitude. During this time we practice being present for a few minutes a day. This is a challenge to slow down and reflect on all of the amazing things you are doing. The idea is simple, every morning for the next 31 days (preferably starting January 1st) you will begin the day by answering the first "Morning" question. Each day has a "Daily Action" that you must follow that day. Each evening you will answer the second question ("I am grateful for"). It doesn't have to be anything huge, something as, "I am grateful for the banana I ate this morning" is fine. That’s practicing gratitude! It’s so easy to do and once you start being grateful for the little things, you might notice that you are naturally being more grateful for more. How do I join in? It’s so easy. Just click on the link below and download your free worksheets and print them or you can write your answers in your personal journal, share it on Instagram using the hashtag, #HLJGratitudeChallenge! I will also be taking part in this challenge on my own Instagram so if you want to follow my 31 days, feel free to follow me here or you can follow on Facebook here. What’s the point? There is an understanding that the universe conspires on our behalf and being grateful aligns us with our purpose. The hope is that at the end of these 31 days, we will find ourselves feeling more uplifted, full of appreciation for our lives, and we'll continue the course of our true purpose.
I am soooo excited to be doing this with y'all. I hope that you want to join in with me on this 31 day journey. Hopefully by the end of it, we see differences in our mindsets, our attitudes, and our overall energy. How do you like to practice gratitude? Peace & Blessings, Demeka P.S. Showing your gratitude can be a great way to spread positive feelings in the world around you. When you think about it, reaching your goals starts with a single positive thought. How do you feel when someone sincerely expresses his or her gratitude to you for something you did? Doesn't it make you feel good about yourself? These positive feelings can lift you up, boost your enthusiasm, and motivate you to achieve even more. Feeling grateful for what you have can produce the same good feelings and sustain your drive toward your goals. This shows how gratitude can have some seriously positive snowball effects. Here are some of the benefits of gratitude: 1. Reaching your goals. When you feel grateful, it tends to be a lasting and selfless feeling. It's much more than just a momentary burst of positive energy; it has staying power that will provide a great boost for you to reach your goals.
2. Strengthened relationships. There are many ways you can express your gratitude to your loved ones, including saying, "Thank you," writing a letter, or giving them a thoughtful gift. When you learn to avoid taking your loved ones for granted, you'll have a long lasting and loving relationship.
3. Improved communication. Gratitude can mean better communication all around. By expressing your gratitude to strangers, they'll be more likely to show an interest in helping you, too.
4. More effective constructive criticism. No matter how we express constructive criticism, it often makes the recipient defensive or even angry. No one likes a blow to the ego. In this situation, a grateful attitude can take you a long way. You can express criticism quite effectively when you also emphasize what you appreciate about them. 5. Preserving memories. You can preserve memories in a positive way when you keep a gratitude journal. You'll be able to enjoy your memories again and again when you read about these happy times in the future. Show Your Gratitude Every Day Showing gratitude to others may seem like a selfless act, but it's something that you also benefit from. When you show your gratitude every day, you change the way you think. You'll appreciate your good life when the majority of your thoughts remain positive. Negative thoughts can sometimes be overwhelming, and just because you have them doesn't mean you're a bad person. They happen to everyone, but you can strive to keep them to a minimum with the help of a grateful attitude. One way to show your gratitude every day is to remind yourself of the big picture when a negative thought arises. If a petty argument with your spouse makes you feel angry and heated, take a deep breath and think for a moment. Remember that the argument is not permanent and, instead, feel grateful for the gift of this relationship. Our days on this earth are numbered so we must cherish the time that we do have and enjoy the benefits of living each day as if it were our last. Thank you for taking time to read this, Demeka P.S. There are so many benefits gained from taking a few minutes each day to record your thoughts in a journal. The costs are minimal and the payback is huge. A journal is a great idea for you and your children. Many life coaches require that clients keep journals as part of their success program. Discover 5 great reasons to keep a journal: 1. Keep a record of your life for yourself. How many times have you tried to remember when some particular incident in your past actually happened? Was it 1994 or 1995? Do you remember the facts differently from others that were involved? Who’s actually right?
2. You can record the lives of your children. Imagine how great it would be to keep a journal while your child is growing up and then give it to her later in life?
5. A journal will reduce the amount of stress in your life. Journaling forces you to unplug and focus your mind. Sometimes the best thing for a stressed mind is to turn off the computer and sit quietly with your thoughts.
Consider keeping a journal for yourself and your children. The benefits are considerable, and it doesn’t have to take more than a few minutes per day. When your children are old enough, encourage them to keep journals as well. Journaling is a great tool that doesn’t cost much at all. A pen and notebook are the only items required. To some people, the ability to keep a journal comes natural, while others struggle with it. Whether you keep a consistent daily journal, an occasional journal, or simply jot notes to yourself when ideas come to you, this technique can have powerful implications in helping you attain your goals. Making Things Happen Putting your goals, thoughts, hopes, and dreams on paper can help you actualize what matters to you most. Bring your goals and dreams to life by writing them down. Read them as often as you can to focus your mind on living the life you desire. Try these journaling strategies to help bring all your self-improvement goals to fruition:
Simply putting your thoughts down on paper can help you realize your dreams and focus your attention on what truly matters in your life. Strive to write in your journal as often as you need, and refer back to what you write to help you keep those goals in mind. Journaling is a powerful tool, but is only effective when you're willing to put your passion into it. Thanks for reading, Demeka Tigner P.S. I am a high achiever because I tell myself, “I am able.” Words like these banish any thoughts of doubt about my talents or abilities. Each day I begin with a self-talk session. In the quietness of my office, I take a few moments to reassure myself. I consider each challenge I face and affirm that I have a specific skill set to counteract it. This exercise keeps me connected to my deep-rooted strengths. My self-belief grows stronger when I take the time to talk to myself about my abilities. Positive reinforcement keeps negativity away from my life. Whenever I feel doubt coming on, I retreat and meditate. Those moments renew my determination because I focus on my potential. When I remind myself of the force that I am, doubt quickly subsides. I avoid taking others’ negative opinions of my abilities to heart. Giving too much consideration to external perspectives can cause negativity to fester. In order to continue to be successful, I celebrate my talents and innate gifts. Giving those talents the authority to shine makes me a winner. Today, positive energy thrives in my life when I pat myself on the shoulder. I am a firm believer in embracing my true strengths. I am committed to using affirmative self-talk to drive me to achieve greatness. Self-Reflection Questions:

Manifesting wealth and abundance begins from within. You have to appreciate what you have in your life already – your family, friends, and job – instead of focusing on what you wish you had. Often people waste precious time thinking about what they don’t have. They start to believe their lives will improve if only they had more money, or more friends, or more gadgets. They think about what’s lacking instead of the abundance that is already overflowing into their life. Positive Thinking Brings Abundance If you appreciate what you have, you’ll be inspired to take the necessary actions to bring more of what you want into your life. From a practical point of view, this all starts with living happily with what you have. Now at first, this may sound rather counterproductive, but living happily with what you have doesn’t mean you’re completely satisfied and fulfilled. It simply means that you appreciate all the good parts of your life, and you recognize that you can take those things you have, even if they are few, and build upon them. Very often we take our lives for granted and forget to give thanks for all that is good. If you’re having a tough time recognizing the goodness in your life, then make a gratitude list and continue adding to it everyday. For example:
If you can be happy with what you have now, you’ll have a deeper appreciation for the better circumstances that are coming to you in your future. Just imagine how much more you’ll appreciate your eventual move to a large home with a spacious property if you begin to enjoy your current humble place. Keeping Up with the Neighbors Remember, the term “wealth” doesn’t only relate to money. You can be wealthy by having a loving family who visits often or friends who care for you like one of their own. There’s much more to life than who has the latest designer purse or fanciest sports car in the neighborhood. If you constantly compare yourself to your neighbor, based solely on material possessions, you may not fully understand what your neighbor’s life is like. He may appear wealthy with his BMW, but perhaps he is suffering in his personal life. Be very careful making judgments about others because you never truly know what’s going on behind closed doors. Material possessions alone do not make an abundant life. First Steps Toward Wealth When you don’t have a lot of material possessions and monetary wealth, it ironically becomes easier for you to learn how to save money. Saving money is paramount if you want to build monetary wealth, but in order to do so, you have to learn how to delay gratification. That means you must make sure you’re making more money than you’re spending. Ideally you want to pay for everything you have, not finance it – without truly owning your possessions and going into debt, you’re actually moving farther away from wealth. Besides saving money, the real way to build wealth is to make more money. That may sound rather obvious, but too many people aren’t making the money they can and should. You have to make the conscious decision to get unstuck from your dead-end job and the rat race. You have to rise above the crowd and do something different. That may mean you have to discover creative ways for you to make more money. For many people today, that may mean getting involved in a virtual office or an Internet-based business, but whatever the case might be for you, you can elevate yourself. If you’re unhappy with the money you’re making, you have to starting thinking about ways to increase the amount of money you make so you can realize your dreams.
